Sellick Partnership are currently working with a well-established law firm based in Reading where an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor/Associate to join their Dispute Resolution team.

This team advises investors, developers, owners, and occupiers of real estate on how best to avoid, manage and resolve real estate issues and disputes.

This opportunity offers you the chance to work with a broad range of clients from international corporates, national and local corporates, NHS, local government, charities, universities and colleges, schools, and individuals. As well as the opportunity to work with an established team of 3 partners and 10 fee earners across two offices.

Our client is looking for a confident, self-motivated candidate with Real Estate Disputes experience who is used to working independently within a team. The successful candidate will be running their own caseload and that caseload will comprise of:

Real estate issues arising from:

• Land sale and purchase transactions
• Development agreements
• Option and overage provisions
• Rights of light
• Restrictive covenants
• Nuisance
• Boundary disputes
• Trespassers
• Telecoms masts
• Wayleaves
• Providing strategic advice to obtain vacant possession of development sites

Landlord and tenant issues, acting for either landlords or tenants, arising from:

• Commercial and residential lease renewals
• Rent reviews
• Lease assignment and subletting breaches of lease covenants
• Unlawful use and alteration
• Recovering possession
• Effective exercise of lease break rights
• Mixed use schemes including statutory right of pre-emption
• Statutory lease extensions and enfranchisement

You will need:

• Extensive experience as a litigator and advisor, potentially with your own following or referral network
• Exposure to the County Court, the Lands Tribunal, and the First Tier Tribunal
• Able to work collaboratively with colleagues and successfully manage client relationships
• Demonstrate teamwork and relationship building skills
• Strong commercial acumen
• Ambitious and organised with a keen eye for detail
• Ability to use own initiative to manage own caseload of files
• Confident, pro-active manner
