The Residential Conveyancing Assistant will work with the Conveyancers in the management of caseload by actioning legal procedures as directed by the Conveyancer. They will assist Conveyancers in the management of caseload through dealing with file related queries either face to face or by telephone and assist in the processing of matters on a timely and cost effective basis. 

Key tasks (not an exhaustive list):

• To support Conveyancers in the maintenance of purchase, sales, remortgage, transfer of equity (both freehold and leasehold) files by effective file management. 
• To ensure that clients are kept up to date and dealt with efficiently and politely and that appropriate legal matters are raised with the Conveyancer. 
• To attend to clients, taking instructions, and conducting letter and telephone enquiries as necessary 
• To provide full support to the fee earner - collating, sending, checking documentation to all parties involved in transactions 
• To use the correct Practice procedures and systems in order to manage cases effectively and in accordance with the firm’s standards and legal requirements. 
• To improve and enhance the firm’s client base by effective liaison with existing clients. 
• To maximize the firm’s potential to cross – sell services by identifying appropriate opportunities. 
• To manage own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with minimum supervision. 
• To ensure our clients received the best possible service at all times 
• To ensure our introducers of business receive the best possible service at all times. 
• Verifying client identification in accordance with EMG Solicitors’ Money Laundering Policy Guidelines.
• Ensuring all telephone calls are returned within 2 hours of receipt wherever possible or at the latest, prior to close of business on each working day.
• Produce contract documentation in accordance with the company procedure and policy
• Raise pre-contract enquiries

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

•  Good standard of education
• Legal qualification
• Essential typing skills/Case Management skills
• Previous experience of working in a busy Residential Conveyancing Department.
• Experience of telephone work and working in a Client Care environment
• Good standard of spoken and written English required.
• Competent use of MS Office required.
• Understanding of e-mail systems, portals and other IT as appropriate
• Use of Case Management System.
