About the role

Are you an experienced Adult Social Care lawyer looking to step into a new leadership opportunity? Join the brand new Legal Team at West Northants Council, one of the newest and the fourth biggest Unitary Council in England.

Following the success of our first recruitment drive we are now looking to build on the new team by adding a Head of Legal (People) to provide strategic legal leadership and act as business partner to the Council’s Adult Social Care, Education, Mental and Public Health teams. Once again we are delighted to be supported by Trowers and Hamlins who are offering a bespoke package of mentoring and coaching to the successful applicant.

What will you be doing?

You will lead a team of professionals as well as supporting the growth of the lawyers of tomorrow entering the profession. You will work on high profile cases with the Executive Leadership Team and elected Members in a fast-paced environment and you will deputise for and support the Deputy Director Law and Governance in developing a commercially focused, responsive legal service that is central to the Council achieving its ambitious plans. The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role.  The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary, and this will be discussed at interview.
