EU Competition Lawyer. BCL Legal is instructed by a top international practice, seeking to recruit a competition lawyer to join their Dublin team. This is a rare and unique opportunity for a competition lawyer to join a firm with an outstanding reputation globally.
The competition team are advising and representing clients on a full range of complex EU competition, state aid, procurement and economic regulation work; including:
-EU and multi-jurisdictional merger control
- economic regulations
- dawn raids & cartels
- state aid & procurement rules
- competition & dominance investigations
The competition team are advising clients across a broad range of sectors including defence, pharmaceuticals, telecoms & media, energy & utilities, sport, construction, financial services, transport and retail.
This role is ideally suited to competition lawyers with a minimum of two years' post qualified experience. Competition lawyers applying for this position must be able to display experience in this type of work gained with a reputable firm with a recognised competition practice.

Law Costs Draftspersons primarily prepare and draft bills of costs, points of reply/dispute, and costs budgets. They also take part in the negotiation of bills and have to attend the detailed assessment hearing when asked. They provide technical cost guidance and give necessary training and guidance to the junior team members. They thoroughly review the costs management process and make sure the deadlines for different tasks are met. Providing managers with the monthly time reporting performance and billing data can also be in the costs draftsman job description. Draftspersons have to handle the points in dispute pertinent to a fee earner along with keeping a track of settled bills.
The routine responsibilities of law costs draftspersons include providing assistance in developing an efficient and accurate system for processing billing legal aid files and documents. They support the fee earners in preparing the files for building and guiding them on matters where necessary. They draft the bills and check them. They instruct the external cost draftspersons on how to prepare complex bills and review them meticulously to ensure that there are no issues. They liaise with the caseworker and finance staff for settling the final bills and reconciling the client accounts. They can be asked to provide managers with quarterly work progress using spreadsheets.
