Law Costs Draftspersons primarily prepare and draft bills of costs, points of reply/dispute, and costs budgets. They also take part in the negotiation of bills and have to attend the detailed assessment hearing when asked. They provide technical cost guidance and give necessary training and guidance to the junior team members. They thoroughly review the costs management process and make sure the deadlines for different tasks are met. Providing managers with the monthly time reporting performance and billing data can also be in the costs draftsman job description. Draftspersons have to handle the points in dispute pertinent to a fee earner along with keeping a track of settled bills.
The routine responsibilities of law costs draftspersons include providing assistance in developing an efficient and accurate system for processing billing legal aid files and documents.
