Credit Controller - Manchester

Credit Controller - Manchester (UK) - The internal collections team of this leading international law firm is looking for a credit controller to help in the collection of invoice debts. The work involves attending meetings with stakeholders to ensure debts are chased as quickly and as efficiently as possible. The successful candidate will also liaise with other members of the finance team including legal cashiers and billing cashiers to keep up-to-speed with any issues and also provide support or answer any queries regarding unpaid bills or credit control processes.

• Salary: £20,000 - £25,000
• Reports to: Collections Director
• Previous Experience: Previous credit control experience within a law firm or financial services institution would be ideal. Experience of Excel and Elite 3E would also be highly beneficial.

More about the role

The role of credit controller covers a range of duties. A snapshot of any given day might involve:

• Attending meetings with partners and other fee earners regarding any debts which require chasing;
• Following up overdue invoices;
• Monitoring aging debt and attending meetings to agree debtor targets and any particular approach required in relation to a given debt;
• Updating the credit control database so that an accurate record of outstanding invoices is kept at all times;
• Handling queries from fee earners as well as clients and other members of the finance department such as billing cashiers and legal cashiers.

Candidate attributes

The hiring managers are looking to speak with candidates with a strong background in credit control particularly with experience in the insurance sector. You should have strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise. Candidates must also be able to communicate with colleagues at all levels. Sound IT skills including Excel and ideally Elite 3E is also important.
