The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Children's Safeguarding Lawyer to join a friendly, supportive team and to undertake stimulating and rewarding work with the satisfaction that comes from helping to achieve better outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

Childcare Lawyer duties include;

• To undertake and manage a full caseload of legal work in the area of Children's Safeguarding and progress to conclusion (with or without supervision dependent on experience).
• To carry out research and provide legal advice, and negotiate and agree, draft, prepare and process legal agreements and documents, and all other necessary and appropriate documentation associated with matters in the area of Children's Safeguarding Law.
• Provide legal support to the Council to enable and facilitate the provision of high-quality legal service.
• Prepare, negotiate, draft, and agree routine legal documentation and forms, and all documentation associated with the legal process, including briefs, pleadings, claim forms, affidavits, witness statements and so forth.
• Amend / draft statements and care plans.
• Provide legal advice in relation to and prepare formal Legal Implications for reports under the supervision of the Principal Lawyer for Children's Adults and Education, to relevant committees, panels, working parties and other meetings as required.

Childcare Lawyer will;

• Be qualified solicitor, barrister, or chartered legal executive, able and committed to deliver work in a flexible manner including outside normal office hours, when the role necessitates the same.
• Be expected to manage a workload of children's safeguarding matters including providing high quality advice for internal clients.
• Ideally have some knowledge of local government and how it affects the work of the team, however applicants from other sectors are encouraged to apply.
