About the Role

To manage the serious injury cost process, managing a small team of cost assistants. Providing technical expertise to the serious injury teams and assisting with delivering fee income and increased recoveries and contribute to the general success of the company.

In addition, to manage a small case load of serious injury and catastrophic claimant cost files whilst also working with external suppliers on their case progression. You will be an ambassador of the business, contributing to the department strategy and growth in order to maximise cost recovery and cash flow.

Your main duties will include:

  • Run negotiations on the department's higher value claims with a focus on Catastrophic and Serious Injury Personal Injury
  • Be a point of reference/sign off for Bills, Points of Dispute, Replies, Advices, Applications, Provisional Assessments and Costs Estimates for Multi Track Costs Management cases where required
    To manage relationships with external suppliers in terms of preparation of Budgets, Statement of Costs, Bill of Costs and replies
  • Provide technical advice, support, training &/or advocacy services to other members of the team / firm as a whole
  • Provide technical and advocacy advice in relation to cost related hearings, including CCMC's and Detailed Assessments, interlocutory applications, CMC's and mediation
  • Be familiar with fast-track procedures in relation to costs entitlement and support fast track colleagues where required.
  • Play a key role in implementing the use of the new electronic bills and budget internally (Precedent H and S)

About You

You will be a qualified Cost Lawyer or someone with equivalent experience. You will have a working experience supervising/managing a team. A proven track record of achieving a recovery rate of in excess of 85%

Previous experience in a similar role dealing with Serious injury and Catastrophic costs, including Statements of Costs, Budgets, Bills of Costs and Replies

You'll have a customer centric approach and be focused on delivering the right outcome for each of our clients. You'll bring passion, positivity and enthusiasm to the role, and be committed to developing your career. You will enjoy working as part of a team, supporting each other to achieve individual and business objectives.
