JOB TITLE NQ – 2 years PQE Solicitor – Corporate and Commercial - Commercial Services Team – Pensions
Based in Edinburgh or Glasgow REPORTING TO Juliet Bayne, Partner JOB PURPOSE We have an opportunity for a solicitor to join our Corporate & Commercial Department as a
Pensions solicitor. This is an exciting opportunity as the successful candidate will work directly with
the partner and other team members, and will be exposed to a broad range of pension matters such
as advising employers and trustees of private sector pension schemes as well as public sector funds
on a wide range of funding and regulatory matters. You will also provide internal pensions support
to other departments across the firm which have pension issues. CORE TASKS
• Drafting of pension scheme documentation
• Drafting of pension provisions for transactional support work in both private and public

sector transactions
• Analysis of pension issues, research of the underlying pension law and framing of
appropriate client advice
• Advising public authorities, employers and pension scheme trustees with advice on day to
day pension matters via phone, e-mail and face to face
• Assisting in the drafting of pension styles
• Assisting in the department’s business development and marketing activities
• Delivering training to clients, as part of a team, on pension law issues
• Be aware of Brodies’ information security policies, and protect information assets from
unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times. PERSON SPECIFICATION
• NQ - Previous experience and/or a genuine interest and enthusiasm for working in pensions
is preferred.
• -2 PQE – Previous experience and a genuine interest and enthusiasm for working in
pensions is essential.
• Takes personal responsibility to learn on the job and keep knowledge up to date
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Communicates in a confident, clear and relaxed way
• Adapts style of communication appropriately when dealing with colleagues and clients
