We are currently recruiting for a Solicitor/Legal Exec (up to 3 years PQE), with International Personal Injury experience to join our Aviation Team within the International Personal Injury Department (IPI), in our London office.
The IPI department acts on behalf of seriously injured Claimants whose cases involve a foreign law or jurisdictional element. Cases are pursued through the courts of England and Wales and also in foreign jurisdictions where appropriate.
This position is a really exciting opportunity to work on high profile, high value cases within our highly regarded international/aviation team in our leading Personal Injury department.
RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY RESULTS AREAS
Varied responsibilities, including taking instructions from and advising clients, undertaking legal research, preparing pleadings, witness statements, applications and bundles, liaising with experts, attending conferences with Counsel, clients and experts, obtaining evidence to support clients’ cases, and prosecuting cases through to settlement meeting or trial, if necessary.
Achieving own time-recording and fee income targets. Attaining required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours to comply with Law Society Regulations, where appropriate.
Managing a challenging case-load.
Assisting more senior fee earners on all aspects of high value and complex cross-jurisdictional/aviation cases.
Keeping up to date with changes in relevant law and practice and attending training events to ensure application of up to date legal knowledge and best practice.
Contributing to relevant practice development initiatives and events to promote and develop the firm’s practice.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed applicants, who can demonstrate that they will thrive on working in a busy environment. Ideally we are looking for candidates with around 1- 3 years’ experience in claimant PI claims. It will be helpful (not essential) if suitable candidates have experience of either aviation or international cases involving elements of foreign law and/or cross border disputes. Foreign language skills would also be helpful, but are not essential.
Candidates will need to have excellent client care and communication skills, as the role will involve assisting with client communication and liaising with other professionals. The successful candidate will need to show that they can cope well under pressure and maintain excellent time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and keep to tight deadlines.
