We are looking to recruit a 1yr to 5yr PQE Company and Commercial Solicitor, to be based in Cardiff. The
candidate must be willing to travel to meetings with clients in Swansea and in the South West of England
as and when needed. Other base locations will also be considered for the right candidate (provided they
are happy to also spend time in our Cardiff office).

The successful candidate will have experience in advising clients in relation to all Company and
Commercial work. Experience in Corporate work is particularly desirable.

ROLE PURPOSE To provide a quality service to the Firm’s clients to meet the needs of the Company and Commercial
department and help it achieve its financial and other targets

To self-manage as required so as to operate at optimum efficiency to ensure personal financial and
other targets are met

To develop expertise in your specialism

To build strong beneficial relationships with clients and referrers of Company and Commercial work to
the Firm

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Values To demonstrate the Firm’s values in dealings with clients and colleagues alike
Financial To record all chargeable and investment time To manage client expectations for costs and seeking to recover the maximum fees possible, minimising
write off

To complete client work efficiently to contribute to the Department revenue targets

To handle money in accordance with accounts procedures

To be aware of the Firm’s financial objectives and targets and to support the Firm in achieving these

To raise the Firms profile by participating within the communities in which you live and work

To build strong rapport with clients and referrer of work to ensure repeat instructions and also explore
new work streams and/or support the department in this pursuit

People Skills To establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors and the general
public

To take responsibility for your own performance appraisal and development plan

To liaise with participate in staff teambuilding events and show willingness to assist other teams during
busy periods

Client Focus To proactively think about client’s needs, making sure that our services easily accessible
To arrange appointments and meetings with clients/referrers

To provide the clients with excellent standards of client care

To consider opportunities to cross sell services for the benefit of our clients e.g. Wills and LPAs

To attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and
friendly manner

Service Delivery To work with colleagues to prioritise and complete the most urgent client work before other routine tasks

To prepare correspondence and documents through the departments case management systems or as
directed

To ensure that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and costs

To draft routine letters and documents as requested

To carry out e-filing of documents, in a timely way

Compliance and Risk To comply with all office systems and procedures as stated in the Office Manual

To open, close, archive and retrieve client files in accordance with firm procedures

To maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and
adherence to relevant health & safety procedures

To ensure the confidentiality of all the Firm’s and client documentation and information
REQUIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE 1yr to 5yr PQE in a Company and Commercial department. Experience in Corporate work is particularly
desirable. Able to carry own caseload

Business development skills

Professionalism and courtesy with clients and colleagues

Self-management, problem solving and initiative

Flexibility

IT literacy including audio typing and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook

Team work

Ability to prioritise workloads and work within deadlines

Communication skills

Ability to work under pressure
