We have a unique opportunity for a Newly Qualified solicitor or a Second-Year trainee solicitor approaching qualification to join an intellectually-stimulating and personally rewarding area of law within the PI Military team. The client base and nature of the work is varied involving exposure to an array of high-profile legal matters.
The candidate is going to need to demonstrate networking skills and the ability to recognise and develop business opportunities and to create and grow business relationships. Experience at tribunal (such as CICA or employment) would be an advantage.
The business development side of the role involves attending military events such as military balls, dinners, award ceremonies across the country and will require travel; the firm covers all associated expenses including hotel, flights and dinners in advance.
This opportunity presents the opportunity to develop expertise and build a reputation in a growing area of law.
There will be a highly focused training element provided to the role to facilitate a successful transition into fast becoming an expert in this area of law.
The successful applicant will join a thriving team which has enjoyed considerable success nationally and is held in extremely high regard by some of the leading military personnel and parliamentarians in the country.
The successful applicant will have a rare opportunity to advise a client base of exclusively military personnel without the requirement of prior military knowledge or military expertise; do note this is not a prerequisite for the desired applicant. Aside from exposure to a diverse array of legal matters you will also have the opportunity to be actively involved with business development with Armed Forces charities, Members of Parliament and within Armed Forces networking groups across the country.
In addition to your basic salary we have a competitive benefits package including pension, critical illness cover, health cash plan, death in service, discounted legal services, 25 days hols (this increases with length of service), discounted online shopping, discounted gym memberships and season ticket loans.
As part of the Irwin Mitchell Group’s on-boarding process all successful applicants are required to complete the group’s employment screening process. This process helps to ensure that all new employees meet our standards in relation to honesty and integrity therefore protecting the interests of the Group, existing employees, clients, partners and other stakeholders.
The background checks made will establish your eligibility to work in the UK, and criminal record check and financial checks with a credit reference agency will also be undertaken.
The employment screening process will fully comply with Data Protection and other applicable laws.
