Salary: £59,270 - £67,127 plus £5,500 Car Allowance
Closing date for applicants: 8 October 2019
Thompsons Solicitors are a law firm unlike any other. With nearly 100 years’ experience of successfully representing clients of injury and mistreatment, we have the privilege of working with and supporting the Trade Union Movement and the people they represent.
By providing an inclusive environment, we ensure that individually and collectively we flourish to be the best we can be. We are recognised as one of the UK's leading teams by credible directories including The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, as well as being highly recommended in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2019. We pride ourselves on being “the most experienced trade union, claimant and employment rights law firm in the UK”, our friendly working environment and our excellent work/life balance.
Due to continued growth we are looking for an experienced Senior Supervising Lawyer to drive our highly successful accidents team in our Newcastle Office. You will have the opportunity to deliver full and effective methods of supervision of case work relating to accidents, employer’s liability, occupier’s liability and other personal injury victims who have suffered injuries. You will also take responsibility for best practice in marketing, client care and ensuring case management standards are implemented and upheld throughout the team. We encourage all of our lawyers to be strong advocates for the work we do and to actively engage in marketing and business development opportunities and events.
As a Senior Supervisor you will work towards achieving the required operational and financial performance, contributing to the success of the Branch as a whole whilst you actively drive, develop and supervise a team. You will be an admitted solicitor or FILEX with significant post qualification experience and will be operating as a Court Grade A.
You will be provided with an appropriately sized case holding of multi-track accident claims. Therefore you will possess strong supervisory skills with excellent client care and interpersonal skills, coupled with an enthusiasm to train and share experiences. Dealing with our union clients and colleagues, as well as at other marketing events requires you to have good understanding of the relevant statutory and common law legal practice and procedures together with the ability to be able to clearly communicate this knowledge to your audience.
We recognise and reward high performance, with competitive salaries and an extensive benefits package including:
Structured pay scales
£5,500 car allowance
Contributory pension scheme
Permanent health insurance
30 days annual leave (in addition to bank holidays and concessionary days)
Employee assistance programme
Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
Cycle to work scheme
Organised sports and social club
Annual travel and parking loans
Financial assistance for professional development
We believe that attracting talent that reflects the diversity of the communities within which we live and work is a key part of our business, which is why we are an equal opportunities employer.
