The Team

The marketing communications team is responsible for managing the firm’s brand and reputation and for helping the lawyers to communicate effectively with clients and intermediaries, as well as to engage with new prospects.

Scope

This role reports to the Marketing and Business Development Director. This role is responsible for working collaboratively with senior Business Development Managers and key business stakeholders to formulate, agree and deliver marketing communication campaigns and tactical day to day activity.

The role manages a team of four, comprising one manager and three executives.

Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for the management and outputs of the marketing communications team, to include:

* Exemplary team leadership and people management skills: the ability to get the best out of a team, co-ordinate and prioritise their effort.

* Strong interpersonal skills: building trust and delivering results through well-judged oral and written communications.

* Diplomatic and persuasive with non-marketing colleagues, with when needed the ability to say no constructively.

* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work at pace, whilst maintaining rigorous attention to detail.

* Project management from start to finish – someone who is both a self-starter and a finisher, proactive and tenacious.

* A collaborative mindset: a team player with a consultative approach and the ability to work alongside multiple stakeholders at all levels (both within and outside the team) in order to deliver the best results.

* Campaign planner - confident in the use of data to enable the firm to transition from ad-hoc marketing communications to a planned and measured campaigning approach.

* Digital communications campaign expertise to design and deliver digital prospecting and digital client engagement campaigns.

* Pro-active budget management: a laser focus on ROI and a data-driven approach.

* Marketing communications campaigns strategy and planning.

* Managing the delivery of strategic marketing communication campaigns, as well as providing guidance and support to team members project managing smaller tactical campaigns.

* Brand: custodian of the firm’s brand (visual identity and tone of voice), managing the implementation of brand guidelines, the relationship with our external agencies and the quality of internally-produced content / communications.

* Digital communications: responsibility for the currency and quality of all digital and social content and the development of KPIs to report on the performance of digital campaign plans and key content assets.

* Data reporting and analytics: working collaboratively with the Senior Digital Marketing Manager to develop regular, effective reporting and use of data analytics to inform and shape the strategic development of the firm’s website, social media and direct email digital communications programmes.

* Content strategy: development and implementation of a strategic approach to the development of marketing content, championing best practice across all activity types, particularly direct mail, social media, podcasts and videography.

* Social media: ownership and development of our social media strategy and the use of social media activity in key marketing communications campaigns.

* Legal Directories and Awards: ownership of strategy and oversight of submissions, exercising quality-control and making ROI recommendations, with responsibility for all that are firm-wide.

* Ownership of the proofing, editorial oversight and compliance of all marketing content and communications.

* PR and media: development and implementation of a PR strategy, acting as first port of call for media enquiries, managing the PR agency and playing a key role in crisis communication planning.

* Leadership and performance management of the team, ensuring they are held in the highest regard by colleagues and stakeholders.

* Budget: responsibility for developing, managing and reporting on the performance of the marketing communications investment budget.

* Substantial operational management experience.

* Experience of working at pace and managing and delivering multiple campaigns to tight deadlines.

* Experience in budget setting and financial management.

* Experience and interest in managing a team and/or groups of stakeholders.

* Knowledge of marketing management and reporting technologies (InterAction, Vuture and website analytics would be advantageous).

* PR and media management experience would be desirable but not essential.

The hours of work for this opportunity are 09:30am-5:30pm but it is essential to be committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours when necessary and in response to client demand.
