Agriculture and Estates Solicitor

BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a prominent law-firm renowned for its expertise in the agricultural sector. Recognised as a market leader, the firm acts for farmers, landowners, and estates.

They are seeking a Solicitor to join them as an Associate or Senior Associate, depending on your level of PQE.

The Role:

As part of an established and thriving team, you will handle a variety of high-quality work including sales, purchases and mortgages of rural properties. You will also provide expert advice on estate management, agricultural tenancies, tax, and succession planning. The team collaborates closely with the Private Client department to offer clients a comprehensive service, particularly in conservation management and emerging natural capital projects.

The firm acts for some of the largest landowners in the UK, with four clients ranking among the top 50 landowners nationwide. You will be at the forefront of innovative projects, such as agreements to unlock Biodiversity Net Gain, renewable energy schemes and strategic land sales with values exceeding £100 million.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing a varied caseload of agricultural and estates matters, including transactions and advisory work.
Working with high-profile clients, including some of the largest landowners in the country.
Advising on complex and cutting-edge matters, such as conservation management and renewable energy schemes.
Collaborating with the Private Client team to deliver integrated legal solutions.
Supervising and mentoring junior team members, contributing to their development.

About You:

A qualified Solicitor within experience in rural property, agricultural law or mixed property experience with a strong interest in the agricultural sector.
Excellent technical ability, drafting skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Proven experience in managing client relationships and working collaboratively within a team.
Strong commercial acumen and proactive approach, with the ambition to develop your practice.
A passion for the agricultural industry and a commitment to building a career in this sector.
