The Team

For this role, we would be happy to consider both permanent and fixed-term contract applicants.

The Regulatory Group is dedicated to providing strategically sound and emotionally intelligent advice to private and public sector clients on contentious and non-contentious regulatory and public law matters.

The Group advises clients on commercial strategy; risk management; powers and statutory interpretation; bringing and defending legal challenges including judicial reviews; and conducting, or assisting with public inquiries, inquests and investigations.

The Group has worked on a number of high profile judicial reviews including defending the Financial Conduct Authority from claims made when closing its PPI compensation scheme.

Commercial clients of the Group include Peloton and a number of international life sciences and food and beverage businesses. Lawyers in the Group advise commercial clients on compliance with regulatory requirements, handling regulatory investigations (including antitrust and consumer investigations) and litigation.

In addition, the Group has expertise in supporting regulators conduct investigations such as the Groceries Code Adjudicator's investigations into Tesco and Co-op and the Pubs Code Adjudicator's inaugural investigation.

Due to a continued increase in workloads, we have an excellent opportunity for an associate looking to develop their career as part of an exciting team. The successful candidate will have experience in public and regulatory law (antitrust and public procurement experience would also be helpful) and an interest in advising decision makers in complex investigations.

Responsibilities

* Providing strategic advice on public/administrative and regulatory law issues.

* Advising on the implications of regulators' powers and remit and on investigations.

* Commercial support on regulatory compliance and risk issues.

* Working with counsel and preparing materials for court hearings.

* Client management and client support.

* Supporting supervision and development of colleagues.

Key Skills & Experience

* Experienced 2 – 4 year PQE.

* Proven experience gained in a variety of regulatory and public law matters.

* Strong client care skills.

* Marketing and business development experience.

* Excellent academic record.

* Outstanding communication skills (written and oral).

* Desire to challenge oneself and grow as a human.
