Projects and Property Support Assistant, Transport, Utilities and Compulsory Purchase Team
(Graduate opportunity)

Odell Milne, Partner JOB PURPOSE
We currently have an opportunity for a graduate who is seeking a varied role in a fast paced transport,
utilities and compulsory purchase team. This role involves assisting with all road, rail, utilities and other
infrastructure projects carried out by the dedicated projects team within the Real Estate department. The
role also involves supporting the team in relation to work for major landowners who are affected by road,
rail and utilities projects and on major land registration projects. The successful candidate should be
enthusiastic and willing to get involved in a wide variety of tasks ranging from data management to using
online search facilities to identify titles and other key information. As well as spending time in the office,
the project assistant will be expected to carry out site visits and carry out door to door queries depending
on the nature of the project they are working on. At times this may involve working out with the core
hours of 9am-5pm. CORE TASKS
• Updating Projects Manager database with title and related information;
• Using Registers Direct and other online search facilities to identify titles and other information and
assisting with the preparation of land referencing plans;
• Preparation of land registration forms and LBTT returns as necessary;
• Preparation and service of notices (including advertisements and “lamp post” notices), affected party
questionnaires and other letters or mailings instructed by our clients;



• Preparation of inventories of deeds and documents, spreadsheet databases, progress reports and
tracker tables;
• Preparation of title packs, assisting with the preparation of title reports, and ordering searches and
copy deeds as necessary;
• Assisting with correspondence and telephone calls from affected parties, agents and mortgage
lenders and processing/tracking incoming compensation claims;
• Assisting with liaison with clients and project partners, dealing with day-to-day queries and
instructions, and co-ordinating responses to more complex queries requiring input from different parties;
• Assisting with door-to-door enquiries and site visits (which may involve work after 5pm);
• Providing assistance to team in relation to a range of administrative and quasi-legal tasks;
• Ordering searches, property enquiry certificates, reports and copy titles;
• General administrative assistance to team;
• Be aware of Brodies’ information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised
access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times. SKILLS

• Educated to degree level
• Maths or computing to advanced higher or equivalent desirable
• Willing to take the initiative and ability to work proactively with team to find innovative solutions to
problems
• Advanced computer skills (MS Excel, Microsoft Project, ArcReader and Word) and understanding of
simple programming an advantage (willingness and ability to learn new systems essential)
• Flexible and willing to take on all tasks with enthusiasm
• Full clean driving licence
• Good team-player
• Strong communication skills including oral and written
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
• Can demonstrate experience of working successfully in a challenging environment
• An ability to build relationships at all levels
