Description

The Technical Delivery Lead will play a critical role in the programme and will be accountable and responsible for coordinating and managing the technical streams and associated deliverables. Including but not restricted too, Architecture, Integrations, Applications (inc security), Release and Environment management. The role will also play a key role in shaping the technical delivery team structure and resource profile to support the successful completion of the technical aspects of delivery. Supporting the programme manager and Director as well as close alignment to the IT heads, teams and processes.

The Finance Transformation Programme Background:

The programme's objective is to replace the firms Practice Management System. The Practice Management System is core to the operations of the firm. Handling the creation and distribution of bills, revenue management along with the core accountancy functions and controls. This high exposure and complex programme will impact all aspects of the firm functions, people, and offices.

The programme is taking the opportunity to not only replace the underlying out of service technology but also review the associated business processes to drive for improvement, efficiency and standardisation across the international user base. As well as providing an enhanced experience and 'smarter' ways of working for the fee earners.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

* Provide leadership and create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, innovative thinking, and cohesive effort

* Shape, mobilise and lead the programme's technical streams

* Define and deliver all required technical stream deliverables

* Coordinate the lead the technical teams ensuring transparency across both the programme team and IT function

* Plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on overall progress and initiates corrective action, as appropriate, to ensure that programme deliverables are produced on time and within budget

* Manages exceptions, agrees priorities, and initiates extra activities wherever gaps in the programme are identified, according to baseline planning within the programme

* Ensure clear and consistent communication and understanding

* Translate technical terminology into ‘business language’

* Build and nurture relationships with subject matter experts, process owner, IT Teams, suppliers and other programme and firm key stakeholders

* At regular intervals, update the Programme Manager on stream status, task accomplishment and stream activities against the schedule

* Escalate issues which cannot be resolved by the stream to the Programme Manager / Director

Skills, experience and characteristics:

Essential:

* Proven success in the delivery of large complex technical transformation projects

* Proved experience in working and delivering in a complex, cloud enabled and federated technical environment

* Outcome and delivery focused

* Ability to influence, persuade and have personal impact - conveying a level of confidence and professionalism when engaging with stakeholders, influencing positively and persuading others to take a specific course of action when not in a position of authority

* Demonstrable Project and Risk Management experience

* High level of competency in stakeholder engagement

* Budgeting experience and effective cost management

* Apply best practice and experience to structure and drive delivery

* Experience of delivery utilising both in both Waterfall and Agile environments

* Ability to judge and manage priorities effectively and work to tight timescales

* Able to work independently and adapt to change

Desirable:

* Understanding and exposure of Financial systems, specific to professional services, the business processes they support and the integration/relationship with other key systems. E.g. Document Management System, Client and Matter Opening and HR systems

* Experience of Implementing Practice Management Systems

* A working knowledge of Quality Management Practices

* Exposure to Risk Management methods and techniques for the assessment and management of business risk including safety-related risk

* Experience in scoping, preparing and presenting requests for proposal and invitations to tender both verbally and in writing
