Our planning team in Bristol is looking for a paralegal to assist team members in both individual transactions and as part of wider project work.
Work is varied and will involve assisting with and handling all aspects of planning work including planning applications and appeals, regeneration projects and section 106 agreements. You will also research points of law for live matters and update the team and others on legal developments. You will be required to collate documents on larger matters and to assist with a variety of administrative functions for the team.
You will also have the opportunity to get involved with ad hoc projects (small and large) as and when these arise, with the assistance of other members of the team.
This is a significant opportunity for someone to gain excellent experience early on in their legal career, with good prospects that the role may lead to a training contract geared to a career as a planning solicitor.
We would prefer you to have at least six months’ experience as a paralegal, and if this experience is within the property or planning sector this would be especially helpful. If you have less experience than this but can show a real interest in Planning work together with a history of delivering exceptional client service, we would like to hear from you. Whatever your experience, you will need excellent written and oral communication skills.
Whether you’re a graduate looking for your first step on the career ladder within law, or perhaps you are looking to get back into work following a career break, then this role may be well suited to you. We’d be happy to consider part time applications, applications from qualified lawyers who are looking for a less pressured role and better work/life balance, or non-legal professionals currently working within the Planning sector and looking for a career change.
The work requires self-motivation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines, so you’ll need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills.
You will be a team player and relish helping others. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class support service to our lawyers and clients, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
