Wrigleys Solicitors
Location: Leeds
Job type: Permanent
Category: Solicitor Jobs
Pensions Solicitor

Job Title: Pensions Solicitor

Office: Leeds

Department: Pensions

Job Summary:

Purpose of Role
The successful candidate will join a pensions team which offers a broad range of services across the field of pensions law and which is "particularly recommended for advice to trustees" (Chambers and Partners).

The team's clients include trustees, scheme employers, public sector bodies, third sector bodies and educational establishments. Whilst the firm is based in Yorkshire, we have a national client base. The firm also has a trustee company, Wrigleys Pensions Trustees Limited, which acts as independent trustee for a number of schemes, including a market leading master trust. The post therefore offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to get involved with the activities of the trustee company if this is something they would like to explore.

The team is collaborative and friendly, comprising 1 partner and 5 solicitors. We are looking to add a technically strong lawyer who will fit into an environment which is less corporate and fee driven than some of our competitors. Experience of pensions is not essential if the candidate has a genuine enthusiasm to specialise in the field. Depending on experience, the candidate may be required to supervise others. There will be opportunity for the candidate to participate in the team's business development activities.

We are considering candidates at all levels of qualification (including newly qualified solicitors or soon to qualify solicitors) who meet the above criteria.

Principal areas of work

Wrigleys is seeking a lawyer to join the pensions team in Leeds who has experience or interest in some or all of the following:

* Scheme governance issues including data protection.

* Scheme reorganisations and mergers.

* Scheme wind-ups and the Pension Protection Fund (PPF).

* Pension benefit issues, including sex equalisation.

* Risk management and deficit reduction through benefit design changes.

* Buy-ins and buy-outs.

* Corporate restructuring and pensions (e.g. apportionment arrangements).

* Scheme funding issues.

* TUPE and outsourcing

* Trustee services.
