About the Role

The team 

 

Our Dispute Resolution practice advises on and undertakes a wide range of commercial, civil, and  regulatory work in sectors such as:  technology and media, health and social care and financial services.  The team acts for a wide range of clients including a number of household names, has a strong reputation in the region, and is also represented in our Swindon, London and Oxford offices.                         

 

In line with our strategic growth plans we  are continuing to expand our service offering and presence as leading experts in this market.

 

To this end we are looking to recruit a senior lawyer to work as the technical lead on litigation matters.

 

You will work closely with the other lawyers in the team to provide exceptional levels of client service and actively support the Department’s  business development plan.

 

Duties will include:

 

  • Acting as a technical lead for our clients’ most challenging litigation matters.
  • Managing a client review process and introducing changes based on client feedback, focusing on our clients’ successes and future growth.
  • Setting up and taking a key role in client and referrer events across the business. Building business on the back of referrals for excellent service delivery.
  • Running client and referrer development plans, with goals for growing clients/referrers through a range of added value activities, service extension and cross referrals.
  • Expanding your own practice by broadening and developing your areas of expertise into new client sectors or markets to achieve greater market share.
  • Contributing to Dispute Resolution departmental BD plans.
  • Growing as a leader of the firm through strategic contributions to the Department and creating good working relationships with others across the firm. Quickly building a strong network to enable effective cross referral of work and leverage.
  • Leading and managing performance and development, both in terms of your own practice and others in the team so as to secure excellent results.
  • Aligning your personal contribution and activities with the wider business objectives and success of the firm.
  • Understanding changes in the legal sector, identifying the impact on the business and defining strategies to ensure that team members keep up to date.
  • Managing business processes effectively – analysing management information, and working with others to define and implement business improvements and change.

 

About You

 

Skills & Experience:

  • You will be a qualified solicitor, with around 8-10 years of post-qualification experience, with substantial knowledge of both commercial and civil litigation, preferably with regulatory experience.
  • You will have a clear business plan for the growth of your own practice.
  • Experience of third party funding (TPLF) would also be an advantage.
  • You will be able to demonstrate strong client management skills with a focus on delivery of excellent client service.
  • You will have a track record in winning new business through networking and marketing activities.
  • You will be able to demonstrate an ability to assist in managing a team and supervise and mentor junior fee earners.
  • Experience of working on  international disputes would be an advantage.
