Paralegal vacancies – Public Inquiry Team

Bindmans Public Inquiry Team
Bindmans has established expertise in advising and representing core participants on both statutory and non-statutory inquiries where it is essential that findings can withstand rigorous scrutiny. We are instructed by Core Participants and witnesses to ensure they receive full support and robust representation and that the inquiry will be efficient, fair, open and accountable. We have recently acted for large groups of Core Participants at the Leveson Inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the British press following the News International phone hacking scandal, the Undercover Policing Inquiry and the Grenfell Tower Public Inquiry. As well as acting for individuals and families, we also act for organisational clients, such as NGOs and campaigning organisations.
We are seeking to recruit experienced and motivated Paralegals to join our Public Inquiry Team to provide general support to fee earners.
Main duties & responsibilities
The role consists of assisting fee earners with case preparation including legal research, interviewing witnesses and drafting statements, processing evidence, preparing, collating and ordering documentation, applying for legal aid funding, attending on clients and witnesses, and attending conferences and court.
Skills & Experience
Good legal experience, qualifications, completion of BVC/LPC is desirable but not essential for the role.
The successful candidate will have previous paralegal experience and in particular good interview and document analysis skills.
Experience in some of the following areas of law is desirable but not essential:
* actions against the state; housing law; inquests and public inquiries.
The successful applicant will be able to work well within a team, and have good administrative and case management skills within an office environment.
