Clarke Willmott
Location: Manchester
Job type: Permanent
Category: Paralegal Jobs
An excellent opportunity for a paralegal to begin or develop their legal career with us within our IP team.

Role: Paralegal

Location: Manchester

Hours: Full time

Term: Permanent

Vacancy Reference: 342-PMR

The role:

Our intellectual property team is based across our Manchester and Southampton offices. Our Partners Roy Crozier and Susan Hall, who both joined us after gaining significant experience in major international law firms. They have built a well-established and highly-regarded practice that counts many household name and luxury international brands as key clients.

As part of the team in Manchester, you will assist the lawyers with their workload. The role is fast paced and workload will vary day to day. Typical duties will include assisting fee earners with IP litigation, specifically anti-counterfeiting work and managing own cases, liaising with clients, legal research and document preparation. The IP team also has a wide IT expertise, so work will include issues relating to GDPR and drafting and analysing software licences. We also have a growing franchising practice.

About you:

Ideally as a Law graduate or LPC graduate you will already have a good technical grounding in the law and the basics of the litigation process. Whether or not you have already gained some paralegal experience, you’ll be keen to develop your legal career by gaining expertise in IP work.

You’ll need a strong intellect to succeed in this role, so we will be looking for a corresponding level of academic achievement. You’ll also need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills. The work requires self-motivation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines.

Finally, legal practice is about people and this is very much a team orientated role.

You will relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class support service to your fee earners, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
