We’re looking for a well-organised individual with a keen interest in law, and possibly some relevant legal experience, to join us as a Paralegal and help us provide a specialist casework service in housing law.

Our Birmingham service is a dynamic city centre hub offering holistic integrated advice and support to a diverse range of clients. We also have a Legal Services team which is made up of solicitors, paralegals and Administrators. Join us, and you could soon be helping us to offer a full service to our clients.
About the Role
An excellent opportunity to broaden your experience, you’ll help our solicitors to maintain an active caseload that enables homeless people, those with housing problems or issues relating to community care to enforce their existing rights. This will include litigation in all types of cases. We’ll also rely on you to take instructions from, and give advice to, clients, take statements from witnesses and attend court with counsel when such work is delegated to you by a solicitor. Drafting letters, statements, representations and other documents, liaising with, instructing and negotiating with third parties, including opponents, experts and counsel and carrying out other fee earning tasks as required – all are aspects of this challenging role.
Experience of providing housing advice or litigation would be useful, as would some exposure to working under legal aid contracts. More important, however, is your intellectual aptitude and ability to reason critically. Committed to achieving results, but at the same time, respectful of others opinions, you have lots of initiative and work well as part of a team. What’s more, you respond quickly and positively to change and are happy to challenge the status quo where appropriate. Good IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are also required.
