We have an exciting opportunity for a paralegal to join our Secured Recoveries team for Ascent Performance Group in our Manchester office.

The Company

Ascent is part of the Irwin Mitchell group of companies and was the first specialist litigation debt recovery agency to be granted ABS status meaning that we are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as well as in June 2015 being the first major debt recovery law firm to be fully authorised in the new regulatory regime operated by the FCA.

The Role

To provide technical and practical support in dealing with debt recovery and litigation actions on behalf of our clients.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring any financial arrangements entered into with borrowers and liaising with clients in this regard

  • Preparing court writs and serving on borrowers and progressing in general all parts of court process to obtaining court order  

  • Answering correspondence from borrowers and clients regarding their financial arrangements 

  •  Liaising with clients regarding instructions on obtaining court orders and action thereafter

  • Answering client queries and provide status/advice in a professional and efficient manner with the information that you have available

  • Send correspondence to our client or to third parties

  • Liaise and challenge where required debt recovery companies, courts, solicitors etc on behalf of our client

  • All matters dealing with the enforcement of court orders including preparing and dealing with evictions dates, liaising with courtrs and clients. Instructing external agencies on matters such as attendance at eviction dates

  • Providing assistance to other fee-earners or at the request of a partner in the methodology and progress of work and carry out any research necessitated by ongoing work

  • Accepting and requesting guidance tuition and training on the methodology of work, utilisation of computer systems and other assistance at work

  • Carrying out all of the above with the view to the provision of high quality legal services and the achieving of high profitability within the Firm

In addition to the above, the Paralegal may be required to carry out any other reasonable request as required by the Head of Department

The successful candidate will have the ability to maintain accuracy and work independently with a strong attention to detail. Knowledge of Regulatory requirements within a Credit/Collections environment is desirable while previous experience in Debt Recovery/Litigation is essential.
