Role

Associate

Job Location

Description

Simmons & Simmons are looking to recruit a Managing Associate to
join our growing Corporate practice. The successful candidate can be
based in either our London or Bristol office.

Overview

Our Corporate team operates across the firm's network of offices in
Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Our clients include many leading
funds and financial institutions, national and multinational
corporations, governments and regulatory bodies. We combine our
transactional expertise with in-depth sector experience focusing on
Asset Management & Investment Funds, Financial Institutions, Life
Sciences and TMT.

Our Corporate practice focuses on the following core areas:

* M&A - private and public

* Private equity

* Joint ventures, strategic alliances and reorganisations

* Asset management and investment funds

* Equity capital markets (including US Securities)

* Corporate advisory, corporate governance and regulatory and compliance

The Role

We are seeking to recruit an experienced corporate associate to join
the well-established UK corporate practice, principally to work on
M&A, private equity and JV transactions. This would provide the
opportunity to work on high-value and often high-profile transactions,
frequently on a cross-border basis. The corporate team in the UK
currently comprises 17 partners and over 50 fee earners in total. You
will be afforded the opportunity to work across all the core areas of
the team, and a willingness to play a full role within the team is as
important as experience of any particular work type.

You will work with Partners and associates in both London, Bristol
and internationally, as part of a collegiate and supportive
international group. You will be part of an ambitious growth strategy
focussed on winning more and more premium work from top tier clients.

A few recent examples of deals we have advised on include: BlackRock
(the world's largest asset manager) on the £1.3bn acquisition of
eFront, Brookfield Infrastructure (the world's largest infrastructure
fund) on its sale of Euroports (several hundred million), Brookfield
Infrastructure on its proposed $17bn acquisition of an emerging
markets telecoms business, APG (Europe's largest pension fund) on a
£1.5bn acquisition and join venture transaction, Goldman Sachs on
numerous cross border M&A transactions, Dentsu (Japan's largest
advertising group) on investment into and strategic alliance with the
'Netflix of sport' DAZN (valuing DAZN at US$ multi-billions),
Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking (the asset management arm of Japan's
largest financial group) on its capital and business alliances with
Aberdeen Asset Management and its role as lead shareholder in the
£11bn merger of Aberdeen and Standard Life.

Person Specification

* Excellent academics;

* You will ideally have a minimum of 6 years post qualification experience;

* Applicants should have trained, qualified and practised with a
leading firm;

* Enthusiasm, commitment and energy;

* Flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours when
transactional demands require;

* You are ambitious and collaborative.
