About the team

The Global Attorney Development team are fully embedded in the day to day lives of our associates, providing first-class advice and support to the attorney population and working closely with Partners and Counsel to help shape associates’ futures and careers.

Our Associates Committee is unique to Latham & Watkins and is responsible for the reviews, work assignments, progression and compensation of our associates on a global level. Working alongside the Committee, the Manager of Global Associate Development supports our attorney population to manage their development, utilisation and career progression for the full life-cycle of their career.

About the role

As a Manager of Global Associate Development you will work in conjunction with the Associates Committee to oversee the local associate program with a particular focus on the development, utilisation and retention goals of the firm.

Other key responsibilities include:

* Supporting the strategic initiatives of the Associates Committee, including proposing and implementing programs and initiatives related to associate morale and retention

* Managing the London Attorney Training team as well as working with the local Training & Career Enhancement Administration (TACE) Committee members

* Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders regarding the ongoing associate development needs of the office. Meeting regularly with these groups to discuss ongoing needs and issues

* Working with the Associates Committee regularly on staffing and monitoring pace and utilisation for the associates and assisting with the evaluation and promotion processes and pace budget issues.

* Working with the Global Attorney Development team to assist, coordinate or lead global projects or support efforts and supporting other attorney-related activities including lateral integration, diversity and affinity group projects.

* Understanding the competitive market landscape for attorney compensation, policies and development.
