Locum Information Rights Lawyer

Locum Information Governance Lawyer – Midlands – 3 months – Remote Working – Full time – Up to £40 per hour Umbrella

Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team are seeking a Locum Information Governance Lawyer to join a Local Authority based in the Midlands region.

This role is for an initial duration of 3 months with the likelihood of extension. The Authority are seeking a candidate with full time availability, however those offering part time hours may also be considered. The assignment is a remote working role, however office attendance is also available if desired.

This assignment has an hourly rate of up to £40 per hour Umbrella, dependent upon the individuals relevant experience.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in Local Government handling Information Governance and Data Protection matters, and will be a Qualified Lawyer (either Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX) with a minimum of 2 years’ PQE.

The duties for this role may include:

• Advising on any privacy concern and ensuring that data protection matters are in compliance with the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
• Assessing data protection clauses within proposed tenders and contracts alongside reviewing Senior Members reports
• Responsible for responding to FOI’s and requests for internal reviews, and liaising with the ICO
• Assisting with the development of procedures, registration, templates and guidance for the Council’s processes
• Attending to any data breaches that are reported and act as the first point of contact for any data protection queries
• Reviewing and advising DPIA’s that are received from all directorates within the Council
• Helping to manage the DPIA process from initial registration through to sign-off
