Litigation Solicitor 

T. A. Matthews, Solicitors Ltd

Purpose of the role:

Represent clients in civil litigation and other legal proceedings, draw up legal documents, or manage or advise clients on legal transactions. May specialise in a single area or may practice broadly in many areas of law.

Key Duties

Conduct of matters for clients

Deal with other legal matters as required.

Ensure the positive representation of the firm in all dealings with clients and others

Ensure compliance with quality control procedures when working on all matters. 

Responsibilities

Arbitrate disputes between parties to resolve legal conflicts.

Draft legislation or regulations.

Evaluate information related to legal matters in public or personal records.

Identify implications for cases from legal precedents or other legal information.

Interview claimants to get information related to legal proceedings.

Meet with individuals involved in legal processes to provide information and clarify

issues.

Prepare documentation of legal proceedings.

Prepare legal documents.

Provide legal advice to clients.

Represent the interests of clients in legal proceedings.

Responding to enquiries from new and current clients vial email, letter and telephone   

Progressing files as prompt as possible to conclusion

Conducting files from start to finish in a timely manner

Ensuring all due diligence checks are carried out on all files

Attend relevant networking events to engage with our clients/the community and promote our services

Manage and maintain the department database

Ensure that key dates and deadlines are met.

Support other departments in matters of a litigious nature

General Duties

Ensure an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties

Abide by T. A. Matthews, policies on Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity

Perform other duties occasionally, which are not included in the above, which will be consistent with the role.

Plan, prioritise and organise own workload within established time scale

Take responsibility of achieving set targets

Ensure the department operates efficiently and effectively

Produce updates/reports as and when required

Qualifications/Skills

Solicitor/Legal Executive

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

3 years PQE

Significant experience to manage own case load with little supervision

Customer Service, Communication and Team Working

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people

Planning, Analysis and Problem Solving

Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload within established time scales

Other

Willingness to undertake further training and development

Salary completely negotiable dependant on experience.

Your working week will be 4 or 5 days per week, to be discussed at interview.
