Job Description – Secretary for Family Department

Your main priority as a PA/legal secretary is to provide both secretarial and administrative support to the fee earners in the Family Law department. Your daily tasks/responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping the files up to date in chronological order
  • Audio/copy typing to include typing up legal documents & preparing court forms
  • Polished communication skills – both verbal and written, i.e., making client appointments/
  • updating clients on their matters/issuing client care letters and other professionals
  • Organise client-related activities
  • Organising diaries and travel coordination
  • Use of case management and document management systems to include producing bills
  • Great planning skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • General administrative duties

It is essential to be successful in the role that you have previous experience in working as a Legal Secretary/PA within a Law practice. Client care and excellent IT skills are essential. With excellent organisational skills, you will be able to manage your workload under minimum supervision, providing hands-on support at all times.

The Candidate

  • Preferably, a legal secretary/PA with family law experience
  • Have a fast and accurate typing speed
  • Demonstrate excellent client care skills and communicate well, both verbally and written
  • A professional with good work ethics and a detail-oriented approach to work
  • Proficiency in the use of case management systems and Microsoft Office applications are desirable
  • A team player with a proactive approach to your work
