Position Summary

This role is part of the Firm’s global legal project
management team. The team was created to minimize fee-earner time on admin
related tasks and provide matter specific guidance on managing resources,
defining and utilizing matter work plans, analyzing budgets and using LPM
technology and knowledge management tools to deliver a streamlined service to
the lawyers and clients.

The success of this role will be measured by:
achieving good levels of engagement with key stakeholders; achieving measurable
benefits from the LPM activities undertaken; and adding value to the
organization by contributing to the development and roll out of legal project
management best practices, tools and techniques.

Accountable to the lead partner, the role will require
you to work directly with legal teams, and clients when appropriate, on the
Firm’s most significant matters and clients, by liaising with the partners and
senior lawyers on the progress, profitability and efficiency of the matters and
clients.

Duties and Accountabilities

*

Provide LPM
guidance on best practices, tools, techniques, roles and responsibilities

*

Work with
lawyers to draft and submit budget proposals and staffing plans

*

Identify
issues as they arise, options for resolution and course correction for matters
that are beginning to diverge from work plans and/or budget

*

Streamline
the administrative process around matter management

*

With support
from the Finance team, track and analyze actual matter costs against budget and
proactively address budget variances

*

Monitor
staffing mix and levels on a weekly basis to ensure work is on budget

*

Set and
continually manage matter expectations with team members and client

*

Develop
matter work plans; plan and track matter timelines, milestones and dependencies
using appropriate tools and reports

*

Build
relationships and foster a collaborative approach to working with clients
across departments

*

Continuously
identify improvements to the LPM processes and support the change management of
implementing these LPM processes

Qualifications

*

Experience of
LPM is desirable, but in the absence of this the candidate must have a solid
background in project management, preferably gained in a professional services
environment

*

Knowledge and
proficiency in extranets, online data rooms, collaboration tools and SharePoint
sites

*

Experience in
dealing with senior business stakeholders is vital. Diplomatic and skilled at
building rapport

*

Excellent
analytical and problem-solving skills

*

Able to
manage multiple priorities with “can do” attitude, work cross-functionally, and
meet tight deadlines

*

Strong
communication skills, able to interact at all levels

*

Able to
analyze financial reports of varying levels of complexity, providing financial
analysis and insight as needed

*

A strong
academic record, preferably of graduate level (Law Degree or other relevant Post
Graduate Degree an advantage)

*

Formal legal
project management qualification desirable

*

5+ years
relevant work experience

This is a
Manager role based in London, with potential for international travel.

*

This role
reports to Senior Manager - Legal Project Management.
