MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Purpose:

We are currently looking to recruit a bright and ambitious Legal Director or Senior Associate to join our Litigation and Regulatory team in Edinburgh. The role will primarily focus on involvement in (i) high value and complex litigation disputes and (ii) providing contentious regulatory advice. Acting for a diverse client and sector base (including Financial Services clients), the successful candidate will gain direct experience in all aspects of disputes avoidance, providing regulatory advice, management and resolution of high quality highly complex disputes.

ABOUT YOU

Key areas of responsibility:

Candidates will have a broad diet of work, that will include, but not be limited to:

Advising on all aspects of disputes avoidance, management and resolution of high quality highly complex disputes across a range of sectors (including Financial Services)

*
Management of disputes and preparation of strategies for dealing with claims be they by international arbitration, litigation, adjudication, expert determination or mediation

*
Drafting, reviewing and amending a range of dispute related documents (ranging from pleadings to pre action letters)

*
Strategically advising clients and managing client expectations and project delivery appropriately

*
Liaising and taking instruction from clients

*
Attending client meetings

*
Business development - development of a personal plan, assistance with and implementation of business development campaign

*
Providing contentious regulatory advice

*
Legal research

Skills, experience and characteristics:

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an

indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 6 - 12 years PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role.

Technical skills
