Shakespeare Martineau is a top 50 law firm that has attracted recent press attention for appointing Sarah Walker-Smith as its new Chief Executive, at a pivotal time of ambitious growth for the business.

Reinforcing their commitment to growth and investment, the firm now seeks to expand its successful construction law team in Nottingham.

Working closely with the real estate group as part of a wider East Midlands development team, you will work alongside highly regarded Partner, Alex Smith acting for high profile clients on a range of large projects, including impressive multi-million pound developments.

You will demonstrate the following skills and experience:-

  • a minimum of five years’ experience in dealing with contentious and/or non-contentious construction law matters
  • demonstrable experience of drafting and negotiating amendments to standard form contracts (for example JCT/NEC), as well as bespoke forms of contract, appointment and collateral warranties on a variety of construction projects
  • previous experience in managing or supervising others
  • a track record of developing business through new and existing contacts

You will likely be an associate or senior associate looking to make a step up to legal director or a current legal director looking to join a leading construction team with a progressive and forward thinking law firm.

This position offers tailored leadership development programmes, especially important for those who will have future progression in mind.

The firm’s Nottingham office is situated in a city centre location, next to the train station, offering good transport links.

For any further information on this role, please contact Richard at Bygott Biggs.

At Bygott Biggs our aim has always been to provide a more personal service and everyone here believes that recruitment should be about building long-term relationships with clients and candidates alike. Our reputation has been built on the fact that we provide an efficient and professional service but are not afraid to give straight forward, straight talking advice.

The above PQE is expressed as a guideline only. We are happy to hear from anyone who can demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge in order to fulfil this role.
