Your new role

As our Legal Counsel you’ll provide all members of the EMIS Group with legal advice, support and related services. You’ll be working directly with senior management teams across EMIS Group in respect of business critical projects. A key aspect to the role will be reviewing, negotiating, drafting and revising contracts on behalf of EMIS Group with our customers, commissioners and suppliers but you will also have the opportunity to advise the business in respect of a wide range of matters, including and in relation to data privacy issues.

The team you’ll join

You’ll be an integral part of our small legal team. Based in Leeds but with the opportunity to spend time in our offices in London, Bolton, Watford and Worcester. This is a great opportunity for anyone currently in-house and looking to move away from a larger team and who is keen to really develop themselves and their career or for someone currently in private practice looking for a new challenge.

What you’ll bring

We want to make sure you are set for success; this isn’t all about your skills and that is why we would love to talk to you even if perhaps you don’t fit all of the following;

  • you’ll be legally qualified, with expertise in commercial law and data privacy
  • experienced in drafting and negotiating contracts (ideally with regard to the public sector) and able to work in an independent manner
  • you’ll have a pragmatic approach with strong commercial acumen so you can balance legal considerations with the need to achieve commercial objectives
  • able to deliver advice in a way which is understandable at all levels and relevant to the wider business
  • able to manage competing priorities and to work under pressure
  • able to provide guidance and training to the business in respect of legal matters

What we’ll give you

We have a flexible working policy and don’t expect people to be glued to a desk 9-5, our core hours are 10:00-16:00 so we will work around what works for you in terms of start and finish times.

You’ll get a benefits package which includes lifestyle benefits like gym discounts, a cycle to work scheme and even free fruit all week!

You also get practical things like a healthcare cash plan so whenever the time comes and you need some help with your health, we’ll make sure you’re not out of pocket and life assurance to give you some peace of mind.

We also take our corporate social responsibility pretty seriously and we believe in giving back to our community, so you’ll get the chance to be involved in lots of fundraising events throughout the year.  Our latest one is a company challenge to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks!
