Vacancy:          Experienced Legal Costs Draftsman

Salary:               £22000 - £35000 – dependent on experience     

Description:

 

Our client is one of the leading regional law firms in the UK with a track record of exceptional growth.  Their litigation department, which includes personal injury, clinical negligence, travel, Flight Delay and commercial litigation work, is looking to recruit to an additional experienced Legal Costs Draftsperson into their established costs team. 

 

You will join a highly experienced and well established firm of Costs Solicitors, dealing with costs recovery for a wide range of practice areas. Full training will be provided and the role comes with unrivalled prospects for progression.

 Person Specification: 

·         Previous experience of working as a costs draftsman would be advantageous but is not essential

·         A law degree is preferred or other relevant degrees would be considered

·         Excellent communications skills

·         Excellent attention to detail

·         The ability to work independently as well as part of a team and use your own initiative

·         The ability to work to deadlines

  

Duties – Dependent on Experience: 

·         Ability to maintain own case load

·         Acting for both Claimant and Defendant clients within Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury and Solicitor Own Client and commercial disputes

·         Drafting Bills of Costs/Schedules of Costs use of the electronic bill of costs

·         Preparation of Costs schedules and Estimates

·         Preparation of Points of Reply to dispute

·         Attending detailed assessment hearings at Court

·         Responsible for handling Negotiations of costs to settlement

·         Dealing with complex technical arguments

·         Prioritising your workload and working to strict deadlines

·         Handling Complex CFA and CCFA matters

·         Advising clients on cost recovery

·         Building strong and professional relationships with clients

·         Using Microsoft Office/ Excel,
