Role:                 Civil Litigation - Flight Compensation Claims Assistant – Trainee / Paralegal

Location:          Fareham, Southampton

Salary:               £15K - £17K – dependent on experience

Hours:               9am – 5pm

THIS ROLE WILL SUIT A LAW GRADUATE WITH SOME WORK EXPERIENCE IN A BUSY OFFICE / LEGAL ENVIRONMENT

They are one of the leading Personal Injury and Compensation Legal Claims law firms in the UK with an excellent track record. They are a small, caring team of personal injury specialists who believe that people should get the justice they deserve. They offer a number of other legal  services apart from Personal Injury Claims and have expert lawyers working in the following areas: 

·        Delayed Flight Compensation Claims

·         Criminal Injuries Compensation Claims

·         Professional Negligence Claims against Solicitors

Their Flight Delay Compensation department is continuing to grow and so they are now seeking an additional Trainee Flight Claims Assistant to join their rapidly growing and successful team. 

The Role: 

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in a relatively new area of Litigation / Compensation law. You will be working as part of a team processing a high volume of claims seeking compensation from airlines for passengers whose flights are cancelled, delayed, or where clients are denied boarding. 

Duties: 

The role will include: 

·         Researching claims, gathering evidence and advising on chances of success

·         Liaising with referrers

·         Liaising with and advising clients

·         File opening and closing and liaising with accounts

·         Dealing with incoming emails and telephone calls

·         Preparing Court documents

There is the possibility for rapid progression for the right person where in a short period of time you will be expected to: 

·         Running flight compensation claims as part of a team including all stages from the letter of claim through to final hearing under the supervision of their team leader

·         Preparing Witness Statements for Court and detailed Written Submissions for the Court to consider.

·         Start to gain experience of Advocacy at court hearings 

Profile: 

Good written and oral communication and people skills, and working as part of a team are essential. You will be computer literate and learn to work within - “Proclaim” - the case management system from Eclipse, used to run all cases. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required. 

All assistants must be thorough and efficient and be able to work under pressure in a high volume environment where accuracy is essential. TRANSFERRABLE EXPERIENCE FOR OTHER AREAS OF CIVIL LITIGATION WILL BE CONSIDERED.

Minimum qualification - A Law degree from a recognised English University of  2:2 or above.
