Legal Cashier
Blackburn

My client is a reputable team of Solicitors with over 25 years of experience dealing in Family Law, Criminal Law, Wills & Probate, Conveyancing as well as Personal Injury. They have a close-knit team of Solicitors and are now recruiting for a Legal Cashier to join their team based in their Blackburn office.

You will be responsible for managing the accounts function whilst also handling administrative duties as required.

Role responsibilities:

To ensure compliance with SRA Accounts Rules at all time and to ensure financial wellbeing of the firm and the smooth and efficient running of the office

Posting and raising bills and credit notes

Dealing with payment of bills Court refunds

Liaising with Bankers on a daily basis regarding transactions and queries

Authorising and running cheque requisitions

Posting nominal requests i.e. searches write-offs whip transfers and others chap payments

Dealing with all aspects of conveyancing completion statements

Deposit accounts reconciliation and allocation of interest accrued

Purchase ledger duties

Recording billing and monitoring all disbursement invoices received ensuring bills are raised immediately

Running various and detailed query reports transferring data onto excel

Liaising with Clients in relation to accounting queries

All general queries from principal fee earners and staff and/or all Clients via email telephone and letter

Principal/fee earners expenses

Petty cash duties

Managing agreed repayment plans including sending standing order forms out to Clients

Diarising and ensuring payments are made on due dates

Liaising with Clients via telephone letter or email if payment is not made

Month end and year end procedures

Liaising with Accountants

Preparing month end reports

Preparing budget preparing variants analysis

Negotiating/updating maintenance contracts for all office equipment security and telephone equipment ensuring records are kept of contractual agreements

Arranging maintenance/refurbishment work

Payment of all overheads including rent utilities and any issues regarding the same

Backing up computer on a daily basis

Responsible for providing Accountants who do the payroll with details of any increases in salary deductions for time off work or overtime

Assist with pay reviews

Person specification:
* Ideally should be professionally qualified. Will consider individuals that are qualified by experience with a minimum of 3 years' experience within a similar role
* IT literate with sound knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Excel, Outlook and Word
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with people at all levels
* Organised and methodical with strong numerical abilities
* Ability to work to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail
