Salary:               £17K - £20K        

Exciting career enhancing role. This will involve learning how to prepare bills of costs and costs budgets and learning about costs law, so you can provide costs law advice to solicitor clients.

Description:

Our client is one of the leading regional law firms in the UK with a track record of exceptional growth.  Their litigation department, which includes personal injury, clinical negligence, travel, Flight Delay and commercial litigation, is looking to recruit to their established costs team. 

There is excellent opportunity for successful candidates to start or develop their career in costs law working in a busy in-house team.

Good candidates should enjoy applying their mathematical and IT skills in support of legal principles relating to costs.  Training will take place in-house, provided by a more senior costs draftsman who the candidate will work closely alongside.  Team working will be an important part of the role. The position will predominantly consist of Fast Track cases, however, candidates will have the opportunity to work on bigger cases with appropriate support.   The caseload will be primarily personal injury and clinical negligence with some commercial litigation. 

Candidate Profile:

  • Essential to have a Law Degree and possibly an LPC.
  • Good numerical and IT skills – with experience of Excel or similar
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good communication skills – written / oral – with desire to develop Advocacy skills
  • Good attention to detail

Job role:

  • Preparing costs schedules
  • Developing skills to draft bills of costs
  • Developing skills of cost negotiation
  • Good organisational skills
  • Communicating with fee earners and other parties

They are happy to consider people with some experience, but prefer to teach people in their methods and systems. This is an ideal role for a Law Graduate seeking an excellent career role. .
