At Ascent we currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced developer to lead our in-house Systems Development team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior Microsoft developer to establish best practice software development processes, to develop team skills and capabilities and to put their stamp on future technical direction.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development lifecycle, code quality and release coordination. They will also play an important liaison role between the Ascent Change Team and the developers while also coordinating with Group IT.
Working within what can be a pressurized environment, this role involves line management responsibility for three existing team members. It will be based in our Manchester office, though some travel will be required to our offices in Sheffield and Glasgow.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a flexible approach and have the ability to prioritise work, show initiative and deal with changing time scales/workloads. This role would suit a logical thinking, ambitious individual with a professional manner and excellent communication skills.
Essential technical skills for this role are Microsoft .NET (C# or VB.NET) and Microsoft SQL Server. Experience of Visual Basic 6, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) would be desirable. Knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices would be a bonus.
