Our Insurance focus forms a key part of our strategic sector approach and our well established national Insurance Disputes Team have received recognition as a team to watch in the insurance market.

We have an impressive track record in successfully defending complex claims; after all we've been providing specialist advice for over 40 years.  Led by Partner, Sushma MacGeoch, the team defend complex professional negligence claims acting for insurers and their policyholders, which include defending lawyers, accountants, architects, insurance brokers, surveyors and investments and pensions professionals.  The Team also undertakes D&O/FI work.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join the team in London.

So what will you be doing?

With no two claims the same in this varied role you'll work on disputes across multiple professions as well as policy coverage investigations.  You'll defend claims against all types of professionals and advise them on their insurers on policy coverage.  You'll also have the opportunity to undertake D&O/FI work.  You'll develop contact and relationships with insurer clients and assist in the long term development of the business.  Plus there's the opportunity, from time to time, for client secondments which will help you to better understand our clients' commercial endeavours.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

You'll have at least four years' experience in professional indemnity, D&O/FI or commercial litigation work ideally gained at a large regional or city firm and your experience of insurance policy coverage issues will give your application a distinct advantage.  You'll show strong intellectual ability, a thorough approach to complex legal analysis with swift assimilation of complicated sets of facts.  Your written advice will be fluent and concise and your high level of commerciality will enable you to address the client's overall objectives.  Strong interpersonal skills will give you the ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with the different interests of insurers and insureds and to build strong relationships with clients.

So what's in it for you?

Many of the team are leaders in their field so it's a great place to develop your career and tailor your goals within a supportive environment where work-life balance is respected, not to mention the chance to get involved in London market business development.

In addition, through our D&I practices and programmes we work hard to ensure that difference is visibly valued and welcomed.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.
