Lupton Fawcett is a well-established law firm with offices in Leeds, Sheffield and York. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to join our successful Insolvency team. Although this role is predominantly based in Leeds, on occasion you should be prepared to work across all three offices.

The team has a regional and national presence and is recognised in the Legal 500 directory for the quality of its work. The team acts for all types of businesses from small owner managed concerns to blue chip nationals, in all sectors of industry and commerce, as well as for high net worth individuals.

The successful candidate will be expected to advise insolvency practitioners from small independents to national practices on all aspects of insolvency covering a wide variety of industry sectors. This will include acting for banks and other lenders where you will be called to advise on their security arrangements and on strengthening their position.

The role will involve protecting businesses and their key personnel against the potential negative consequences of an investigation or prosecution whether financial, reputational or personal. You should have experience of advising directors of their duties and obligations prior to any formal insolvency then guiding these clients through the insolvency process.

On occasion you will be required to act for individuals buying a business and / or assets out of insolvency and to handle large / complex property portfolio disposals for administrators and LPA receivers.

As this is a progressive role you will be expected to maintain and grow your own caseload subject to an appropriate level of supervision by the Department Head and keep up to date with changes and developments in insolvency law.

You will have excellent technical ability and a client/outcome focussed approach. Realistically having 3-5 years PQE or more, you will be expected to manage your own caseload with assistance and support from other members of the team, although all levels of experience will be considered. You will also be expected to participate in marketing activities.

Ideally the candidate will:

• Display the ability to apply technical knowledge in a commercially astute way;
• Be pro-active, driven, professional and flexible as well as being friendly and a good team player;
• Have enthusiasm to participate in business development and networking opportunities.

Applicants should have the confidence to provide complex advice at director / board level; be self-motivated with excellent IT skills and convince us that they will enjoy working both as part of an integrated team as well as autonomously when required. Overall they should be motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, and be keen to get the right result for the client.

The department is relaxed and informal, but extremely professional. We put clients’ needs first, so the ability to prioritise a workload is essential as is the ability to work to and meet deadlines. An excellent eye for detail and a concern for quality and accuracy is essential.

The successful candidate will be tasked with managing a full and varied insolvency caseload. They should be excited at the opportunity to be part of a strong and close knit team where they can contribute to the growth of the department.
