We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic lawyer to join our growing insolvency team.
The ideal candidate will likely be 1-4 PQE with demonstrable insolvency experience and an interest in developing a specialism in the area.
We offer an opportunity to gain hands-on, client-facing experience as part of a small team, working on a broad range of corporate and personal insolvency matters.
The bulk of our work is for insolvency practitioners and the role provides a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and build relationships within the industry. Alongside work for insolvency practitioners, we act for company directors, charity trustees, creditors and financially distressed individuals to provide robust and effective legal advice. We also work with various teams across the firm to assist clients facing insolvency issues.
The role would suit an energetic lawyer with a record of providing proactive, commercially astute advice. The candidate should have insolvency experience and a desire to specialise, but there is no expectation that the candidate will have previously worked in a specialist insolvency team.
The role would suit someone looking for a move into London, or out of a broad litigation team and into a niche specialism. The role would be particularly suited to an insolvency specialist keen to broaden their skills and exposure in a client-focused and results-driven team.
The team is based in the firm’s Putney office but the candidate will likely spend time, with the team, in both Putney and Bedford Row.
Responsibilities will include:
Conducting insolvency litigation in connection with antecedent transactions, misfeasance and other office holder claims;
Conducting litigation in connection with asset realisations;
Researching and drafting advice, and recommending effective solutions, in a wide range of insolvency issues for the benefit of office holders, defendant directors and other interested parties (such as landlords of insolvent tenants);
With assistance, analysing cases to identify strengths, weaknesses and alternative solutions;
Drafting correspondence, witness statements and applications;
Negotiating and exploring Alternative Dispute Resolution as appropriate;
Advising office holders on practical solutions to issues arising;
Advising directors and trustees in relation to their duties;
Advising defendants in relation to claims faced;
Proactively managing a mixed caseload of work to manage client expectations, maintain momentum and ensure sustainable financial performance;
Building and maintaining relationships with clients by repeatedly delivering effective results as part of a close team;
Business development activities internally and externally to raise the profile of the team.
We would be keen to have an initial confidential discussion with interested candidates.
