My client is a leading provider of legal services to the public sector, regulators, and commercial organisations. Their Litigation, Advisory & Regulatory department deals with a substantial volume of often high profile commercial and regulatory disputes involving both private and public law.

An opportunity has arisen for an information law/ data protection specialist to support the team on an interim/ temporary contract or on a Consultancy basis.

The candidate will specialise mainly in information law. The role requires experience of all aspects of information including GDPR and the Data Protection Act, other rights of access including the Freedom of Information Act and other information governance issues.

It is essential that the successful candidate can provide sound, commercial advice on the following areas:

  • Data Protection
  • Subject Access Requests
  • Disclosure of information
  • Information sharing
  • GDPR compliance
  • Commercial Data Protection issues
  • Compensation claims
  • Freedom of Information Act 2000
  • Environmental Information Regulations
  • Access to Medical Records Act 1990
  • Caldicott Principles
  • Information Commissioner and Tribunal matters
  • Policies and Protocols in relation to the above

Not essential but additional broader regulatory & compliance experience would be advantageous including CQC, Health and Safety, Fire Safety; Environmental; Consumer/Trading Standards; Licensing; Bribery & Corruption etc
