The primary purpose of this Legal Counsel is to protect the interests of the Company and of related Group Companies by giving reactive and proactive legal advice on general commercial contractual and compliance matters, to include drafting, negotiation, training, dispute resolution and policy drafting.
Reporting into the Head of Legal for UK you will also work with the international and other domestic legal teams. You can expect to give general commercial law advice on a broad range of matters to different business areas to enable those businesses to operate in the most effective manner within the law.
The role will include carrying out contract reviews and drafting in relation to tenders and other contracts for fleet, parts and service departments and advising internal stakeholders on the best contractual means of protecting the interests of or enforcing the rights of the business. You will ensure that the distribution and sales activities of the business comply with competition law requirements.
Other elements of the role include reviewing proposed marketing and advertising material for compliance with applicable laws, codes of practice and Group norms as well as governance and compliance work with particular emphasis on competition law, data protection, financial services and consumer rights. Assisting with company secretarial duties is a smaller, more discrete element of the role.
You should have sound general knowledge of the law – previous in house experience is desirable although not essential. You are likely to have around 3-5PQE.
You should have strong analytical skills as well as excellent communication and persuasive skills coupled with self-confidence and an approachable nature.
