Rare opportunity with partnership prospects for an experienced matrimonial lawyer to take over an existing department at a well-established firm on the South Coast.

 

My client has a long-standing family law practice which has advised a cross-section of clients from across the Hampshire area for years, ranging from relatively modest asset values through to wealthy executives with pensions and investment properties. The firm is seeking to recruit an experienced family lawyer who has worked with clients of this nature but also who can bring some fresh ideas and impetus to the team, with the intention of growing this offering further through business development and internal cross-referrals from other departments.

 

You will likely have accrued 5+yrs PQE as a solicitor and/or legal executive with previous experience of supervising other team members, and will have a broad range of knowledge of family law including ancillary relief, private Children matters, prenuptial agreements, matrimonial and cohabitation disputes. It is likely that your own caseload will be made up entirely of privately-paying clients although the firm does handle some publicly-funded work, so a sufficient understanding of Legal Aid matters to provide supervision will be required (or at least a willingness to develop this).

 

The role is likely to appeal to an ambitious family lawyer who is looking for the opportunity to drive the growth of the department, and the firm is willing to consider applicants at up to partner/designate level. A client following would be welcomed but is not a prerequisite. Remuneration is competitive and should attract senior lawyers looking to be well-rewarded for quality work.
