Want to work for a busy FS Regulatory team?
About the role
Our highly regarded FS Regulatory team is busier than ever, from helping our clients to develop new products and services or assisting them with significant regulatory change projects such as MiFID II, to helping them deal with investigations and regulatory enforcement proceedings. With Brexit around the corner, many of our clients are also looking at their UK and international operations and working out their strategy for dealing with what may lie ahead. The recent merger has also led to a wide array of new opportunities, particularly in the fast developing FinTech market. With CMS’s specialist regulatory expertise and large international footprint, we are well placed to help our clients deal with whatever the future holds.
As a result, the team is now looking to expand at all levels. In particular, we are looking for several Associates who want to specialise in non-contentious regulatory work or do a mix of non-contentious and contentious regulatory work. The team’s clients include banks and other lenders, payment services providers, broker-dealers, funds, investment managers and advisers, exchanges, platforms and trading facilities, insurers and insurance intermediaries, as well as the large corporate/pension fund clients and suppliers of these types of institutions. You will have exposure to a wide variety of work, including: advising on authorisation and conduct of business requirements, corporate governance, regulatory capital, client money and assets, product design and distribution, cross border business, insider dealing and market abuse, anti-money laundering/financial crime, as well as the regulatory aspects of mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures and outsourcings.
CMS is known for its particularly supportive and collaborative team approach with ambitious plans for growth and excellent long-term career prospects.

CMS is an international organisation with market leading businesses throughout Europe, The Middle East, Asia and beyond.
On the 1st May 2017, CMS, Nabarro and Olswang are combining to create a truly modern, ambitious, sector driven and technology focused firm for the future. Together we will be the 6th largest UK law firm (by UK revenue) and the 6th largest law firm globally (by headcount) with outstanding global reach: serving 39 countries across 70 offices.
The new firm will be headquartered in the City of London with UK offices in Aberdeen, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Reading and Sheffield.
All 3 firms have very similar values running through them which will ring true after the combination. We work hard to be a truly client-focused law firm. Our partners are hands-on and work hard to get closer to clients with everything from joint training initiatives and advice surgeries to visits and social events. What’s more, our teams have the ideal balance of personality and industry expertise to suit the varied needs of our clients.
CMS is committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment, to not only adhere to current employment law, but to harness the full potential of our staff and ensure that all individuals are treated fairly and with respect.
