A NIHL Fee Earner Assistant carries out an initial review of incoming files, identifying issues that arise.  They also work upon and handle the files until 45 days into the Pre Action Protocol period.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain a minimum caseload of 150 files
  • Ensure new files are reviewed within ten working days of being received

  • Understand how to comply with the Client guidelines and Pre Action Protocol

  • Ensure M.I. is completed on time and accurately

  • All reviews are to pass a quality rating audit of 90% or above

  • Identify denials and maintain denial arguments where appropriate

  • Ensure all files are being managed effectively, in accordance with Triage standard operating instructions

  • Achieve an allocation and settlement target

  • Ensure all incoming post is dealt with within 10 working days

  • Maintain an action list of no more than 100 actions, with no action being older than 4 weeks

  • Maintain a file cycle time of 90 days

  • Ensure there are no justified P.R.P.s

  • 100% compliance with ISO/Lexcel

  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2015

  • The above is not a definitive list of possible work which may be delegated.


  • Some experience of dealing with or assisting on NIHL cases is essential

  • Have a proven ability to manage a high volume of work

  • Good organisation and time management skills

  • Be a self-starter and proactive individual

  • Have the ability to remain motivated and manage own workload

  • Ability to work within the Keoghs shared behaviour framework

  • Previous experience / exposure of working on a case management system would be highly advantageous

  • Promotion into other disease roles would be a natural progression move but applications to other areas of the business would also be supported (minimum criteria and terms apply)
