Position: Family Solicitor - Head Of Family/Childcare Law Department

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000

Benefits: 25 Days Holiday Per Year + Bank Holidays

Job Description -

We are delighted to be working with our client who is a reputable law firm with 2 offices in the West Midlands. They are looking to hire a talented individual to lead the Family/childcare law department. Ideally they are looking for somebody who has previously, or currently holds a similar role; or someone at a senior level looking to make the step up to head a department. With over 40 staff and nearly 20 solicitors you will be joining a long established firm within the region.

Responsibilities:

- Achieving performance targets as set out.

- Motivating team members in order that they play their part in target achievement.

- Providing specialist support to team members, ensuring they provide the quality of service required by the Practice.

- Working to achieve and even exceed your personal targets.

- Running the family law department.

- Ensuring compliance with SQM and Legal Practice generally.

Main Duties:

- To supervise the family law department.

- To deal with your own clients, ensuring service quality levels are to standard.

- Follow internal systems, methods and procedures, encouraging and ensuring others to do the same.

- To remain informed of changes in the areas of specialisation being dealt with, such that a high level of service is always provided.

- To follow internal methods and procedures.

- To carry out file reviews if necessary.

Other Duties:

- You may be required to act in other areas as defined by the practice. For example: Deal with transport policy, manage personnel matters etc.

- If so directed, handle the "fabric" of the Practice; ensure any money used is properly accounted for and that all monies received from clients are properly documented.

Relationships:

Internal - Be able to communicate well within a team, be encouraging and try to motivate the team to achieve high standards of quality and skill.

External - Maintain a high degree of public relations and promote the practice whenever the opportunity arises.

Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

Essential -

- At least 5 years of full time work as a fee earner and admission to the role (5 years PQE).

- A Law degree.

- Children's Panel Membership.

- Management Training.

- A degree of computer literacy.

Desirable -

- Broad based fee earning activities through specialisms useful to the practice would be advantageous.
