The team

Due to expansion we are recruiting Family Solicitors to the department which currently comprises 10 lawyers and seven support staff across our six offices. 

The team's client base extends from its strong local roots to people all over the country and around the world. It includes successful business and professional people both in private and public sectors, senior members of the armed forces, farming families and more.

Most clients instruct due to the team's unrivalled local reputation or on the strength of trusted personal recommendations. 

Team members take pride in winning their client's complete confidence and trust, protecting their interests every step of the way to a successful outcome. 

The team is highly skilled in various methods of dispute resolution including collaborative practice, round-table meetings, represented mediation and, when required, contested court proceedings. 

Advocacy is encouraged here, and tactical and negotiating skills are a major strength. Team members mentor and support one another to ensure maximum professional development. 

The firm

The highly successful Family department at Goughs Solicitors is one of the largest privately funded Family practices in southern England.

The department is ranked in the top three tiers of the prestigious Legal 500 guide to law firms in the south-west. 

The role

You will take over an existing caseload containing a mixture of divorce and separation cases involving both financial elements and children matters. 

The finance work includes high value cases, pensions, businesses, investments, property portfolios, cohabitation disputes and nuptial agreements alongside cases where needs are the driving factor. 

The children cases range from child arrangement disputes to international relocation, among many other areas where our clients benefit from our expert advice and guidance.

The opportunity will be there for you to contribute to the department and wider firm in a number of ways including writing articles, participating in marketing campaigns and social media activities. 

We encourage our lawyers to bring their own style and approach so that they can deliver a personalised tailored service to their clients. 

With some of the department's client base being drawn from our six market sectors you will have the chance to co-work with lawyers across all different departments.
