Position Summary

The Document Review Managing Attorney will report to the department Director. Requirements include 8+ years of eDiscovery vendor, Big 4, or AmLaw50 practice technology experience, with a strong emphasis on Managed Document Review.

The position will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating and tracking Document Review project workflow from inception to review completion. Strong Relativity database and analytics experience required. Strong experience with Brainspace workflows and analytics, including Predictive Coding, Continuous Active Learning, and TAR1, TAR2, CMML models a plus. Experience engaging and onboarding contract attorneys, drafting document review protocol, training, quality checking reviews, creating and reviewing document review reports. Responsible, alongside the Practice Technology Project Manger, for general project management from inception to production. Responsible for designing coding layouts consistent with case team review objectives; coordinating complex projects; ensuring deadlines are met; developing recommendations, plans, cost estimates, budgets, procedures, and specifications for case-specific document review projects. This position requires flexibility in work hours, and will include evening and weekend work.

Also necessary are strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines, effectively manage multiple responsibilities, and meet budget and deadline demands. Familiarity with review platforms other than Relativity a plus.

Responsibilities

* Work with case teams to plan document review projects including designing review workflow, recommending analytics and/or review accelerators, implementing predictive coding/TAR and CAL/TAR2 models as appropriate, manging deadlines and quality of review.

* Serve as liason between WC case team and vendor/contract document review team.

* Kick off and oversee each project and ensure quality and success through actions.

* Consult with case teams regarding best practices for document review management and matter workflow.

* Prepare recommendations, budgets, and project plans.

* Communicate with case teams on document review management issues, such as review pace and status, quality, substantive issues, and and production planning.

* Assist with the review and analysis of keyword terms.

* Assist with application of advance analytics, including communication analysis, machine learning (TAR/CAL), concept searches, etc.

* Thorough understanding of, and ability to explain, TAR1 metrics and validation.

* Assist with the analysis of ESI Protocol and Production Specifications.

* Report to case teams and Direcotr on project status.

* Track and analyze key documents.

* Designing database coding panel layouts, review workflows, and quality control workflows; run search term reports and batch documents for review.

* Advising and recommending vendor selection, facilitiaging vendor engagement, and onboarding contract attorneys for document review.

* Ability to travel domestic and internationally to support cases.

* Supervise other firm staff attorneys performing document review function.

* Bring internal visibility to the offering.

* Meet billable hours set by firm.

Qualifications

* JD degree and bar admission in at least one jurisdiction required; attorney in good standing in at least one jurisdiction required.

* RCA and or Brainspace certification strongly preferred.

* Project management and business analysis certification a plus, PMP or ACEDS.

* 4+ years of experience working with and managing electronic document review projects at Big4 or AmLaw25 firm including running TAR1 and TAR2/CAL reviews

* Thorough knowledge of Relativity (including Relativity Analytics and RAR), and Brainspace; prior significant experience with Predictive Coding a must

* Experience training users on firm applications in class-room setting a plus.

* Thorough knowledge of designing databases and workflows for organizing and review of data.

* Experience in analyzing data processing reporting generated by vendors and internal processing.

* Experience with government investigation matters and managing the document review deliverables.

* Experience managing cases across multiple offices, domestic and/or international, on large matters.

* Thorough knowledge of the electronic discovery process, including evolving standards created through case law, rulemaking, and groups such as EDRM and The Sedona Conference.

* Thorough, detailed knowledge of hardware and software utilized for information retrieval and archiving; ongoing deep, broad, and current knowledge of emerging products and technological solutions.

* Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and client service orientation.

* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

* Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Possess superb written and verbal communication skills to enable effective and professional communication with clients, colleagues, and vendors.

* Able to manage time and resources to meet or exceed established service level agreements.
